Slideshows

Our upgraded slideshow element is not compatible with the previous version. Do not place a new slideshow on the same page as an existing slideshow created with the older element. Please see our hints about upgrading your older slideshows.

Slideshows are a great way to showcase activities and achievements. You may use images uploaded to albums or pull them right off your hard drive using drag and drop. Follow the direction below to to build a slideshow. If you wish to store your images in an album, you should do that first.

Add Images

There are 3 ways you can add images to your slideshow: from existing image albums, upload from your drive, drag and drop from your drive (drag and drop from drive not available on IE 7, 8, or 9). When uploading images from your drive or dragging and dropping, you may select multiple images at once. All of your drag and dropped images will automatically appear in an album titled using the section name. For example, "Homepage Album" and "Our School Album". Each section can have its own drag and dropped album.

To add images from albums, first click the Add from Album button. In the window that pops up, click an album on the left to view the images in that album. You may click images on the right individually to add them to the slideshow. Alternately, there's an Add Complete Album button for each album. .

Hints: Your slideshows will turn out best if all your images are roughly the same dimensions to start with. Our system automatically reduces the size of your images when added to slideshows. You may see some slowness the first time you edit a slideshow while the images are compressed. Even with the built-in compression it is still a good idea to scale down extremely large images before uploading to your website. A good rule of thumb is to make your images as wide as the widest column on your website (this paragraph is in a column 700 pixels wide). See our Image Editing Tips & Tricks page for help with resizing your images.

Image Settings

(1) Add additional images from albums, your drive, or drag images from your drive and drop anywhere on the page.

(2) Reorder slides by dragging and dropping the image tabs.

(3) Add captions to your slides and format using the toolbar that appears just below the caption. Click tabs at the top to select a different image. Shortcut: use right and left arrow keys to switch images.

(4) Crop images to accentuate subject matter. Images remain in proper size ratio so images are always the same size in your slideshow. Shortcut: double click the image to open the cropping tool.

(5) Add a link to a slide. This feature works just like the link tool in our Rich Text Editor. You may link to pages on your site, resources in lockers, or any site on the Internet.

(6) Enter a description (alt tag) for your visually impaired visitors.
